Pam is a lifelong Kansan who was born and raised in Winfield, Kansas. Her father, a WWII veteran and Bronze Star recipient, was a small business owner and, also, served in the Kansas legislature for about 20 years, serving four years as Speaker of the House. She was raised to know and understand the importance of community service and the value of relationships.

Pam graduated from Winfield High School, earned her undergraduate degree in criminal justice from Washburn University in Topeka and a master’s degree in public administration, with an emphasis in state and local government, from the University of Kansas.

Pam and her family moved to Overland Park from Topeka in 1990. Both of her sons attended Blue Valley schools, graduated from Blue Valley Northwest High School and went on to receive their degrees from the University of Kansas. During her sons’ years in Blue Valley, she served on multiple PTOs/PTAs and site-based leadership councils.

She worked for the Blue Valley School District, both in the schools and at district office, for 20 years and officially retired in 2015. In the early 2000s, she had the unique privilege of managing the voice mail system and being the “voice of Blue Valley” for eight years. She also worked several years as administrative projects manager in the Superintendent’s Office. After leaving Blue Valley District Office and before retiring, she worked as a special education paraprofessional in the kindergarten classrooms at Cedar Hills Elementary School. While employed at Blue Valley, she was one of the first Youth Friend volunteers to mentor at-risk youth in the district.

Pam is the former chair of the Johnson County Commission on Aging (COA), which provides information, guidance, advice and support to the Johnson County Area Agency on Aging and serves as a liaison to the Board of County Commissioners concerning the needs of older adults in Johnson County. Pam has also served as a board member for the Johnson County Christmas Bureau, which serves low-income residents in Johnson County, as well as served as a board member for Evergreen Community of Johnson County which is a non-profit long-term care facility in Olathe. Pam is currently serving her second year on the board of directors for Kansas Advocates for Better Care, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of long-term care for older adults. She remains active in Blue Valley by serving on the Blue Valley Board of Education Communications Advisory Committee and volunteering in the kindergarten classrooms at Cedar Hills Elementary School.

Pam and her husband, Kurt, have two married sons, two grandsons, and a beloved golden retriever named Winston.
